It depends I guess. I am sure it puts an additional load on it... but whether or not it is enough to notice is debatable. My loads are fine with it installed.

I track my statistics , i track my results in search engines (both keywords and thread names) , i track the new usage statistics and etc.. In every aspect vBSEO helped my site.If you use a tracking program like Google Analytics it is pretty easy to watch your statistics and how your forum grows.

Track statistics, look at threads and where they return in SERPs.

VBSEO has also helped expose the most major SEO flaws in a default vBulletin install which is duplicate urls. When I get linkbacks from default vBulletin forums I get a ton of different urls for the same thread.

Also it makes running my forum easier so that is always a plus.
