Default Hideous Orange Style - (W.i.P)

Here's the latest style I'm working on. It's not as visually extensive as other styles I've created though I did want to keep things simple and not to overwhelming with regards to intensive headers and such.

It's not much to look at for the moment but I have been going back and forth with the style and experimenting with the design wth regards to the images.

I'm planning on releasing this style and hopefully other colour variations will follow after this one.

Comments, suggestions (as always) will be warmly welcomed at this time. You can click the following link to view the orange plague. :p Click Here - View Style

I think the orange is Ok. It's the green that looks a little hideous (and I like green, it's the color of money) :p See how it looks with something along the lines of one of these:

I did originally have orange bases but because it was dominated by orange I opted for green (which I thought broke the colour a little). I wouldn't go back to orange and would also stay clear of the orange range of colours but I'm thinking the base (on the forum Icons) could be changed to another colour.

I'm still tinkering with the style and graphics so nothing is final and if anyone would further like to provide a constructive critique, I'm all ears.

Thanks for the suggestion CL but I think that the colour you suggested falls in the orange range of colours. ;)

Yes I know, that's why they were chosen, to blend in better ;) If you want to go with non-earthy colors then white and/or gray would work. For my eye the green and the orange are just too close to green and red, which are traditional Christmas colors. No that I know that you want a non-earthy set-up, I would probably go with a white base animated icon for the on icon, and a gray for the off icon

After your first suggestion I did eventually argue with myself and opt for a darkish grey base. I don't think (with this style) I'll be implementing animations otherwise I'll go crazy and the next update will have more animations than pixar studios. I am thinking though that your suggestion for different colour basis will probably work and I'll possibly go for a light white base (with the orange icon faded out) for the off images with a darker grey base with the orange icon being more prominant for the on icons.

As always, Thanks again for the critique CL and if you feel like throwing more suggestions it would be appreciated.

Gotta agree with CI on the green, even though i did like that shade of green, i do think the grey icons fit in much better. Would love to see how the other colour variation's of these are gonna look, in particular the safe old blue

I have to admit, the grey does look so much better and it's a really good neutral colour for when I implement the other coloured styles. That's not to say that I will keep the grey base for the other grey forum icons on the other styles but the option is open for me to do so. I hate styling (i tend to get lazy and easily distracted) the quote button on the hideous orange style will vouch for that so the grey base may remain unless a little inspiration comes my way. :knockedou

I don't know about the animation, I find it a little distracting and at the same time I like it. Hypocracy, such a good thing.

I don't know, towards the end, I could include both static and animated forum icons so members will have a choice.

I just want to thank you for your input CL it has enduce some ideas which hopefully will make the implementation stages and I can get this style wrapped up and packaged by the end of the week. :classic:

The new posts icon is supposed to get members attention. However if you feel that it adds too much focus to that area, I could slow it down a bit for you if you want. It would blend in more then. Just let me know what you decide ;)

What I've decided is to include the animation but rather than have it blink so sudden I'll implement the tween affect and give it a smoother transition from it's prominant state.

I think the above animation looks better than the prominant blinking. thoughts?

It's quite funny, because a year ago I would go all out hog on implementing animations and all this snazzy imagary but since working on the wtcbb software with andrew gallant I've been converted to keeping things simple and defaultish (if that makes sense). I dunno, it's just funny how things change.

Keep the suggestions coming by all means because I find that a small idea will lead to another idea and eventually a great idea then I come back complaining that I broke the style and blaming you for it. :p
