the whole thing about vbhosting is i was planning on writing this myself (with slight tweaks) then i log into vb.org after class see it was there then removed that really made me mad. i have reasons why i wanted that hack that wouldnt violate the LA. i just wanted one of my mods the ability to have his own section of the forum where admins and everyone else couldnt see unless they were added by him. now i'm about 1/4 of the way through coding this.

Are you thinking about releasing your version or no?

Jelsoft is not the only company or individual with an attorney on retainer. ;)

i replied to your orginal post over on vb.

I believe any one should have the right to start a board doing hacks even if it does upset a few people>as for the vbhosting hack well you all proberly right it may never come back seeing as they taking their time on making a decision (maybe hoping we all forget it)

I like vb.org and it does have a lot of good people on there but in sayin that there is always room for other boards. Also i see you have the lockdown hack on here which is banned on vb.org cause it is seen as only used on pirated boards when in fact if u change the wording of the templates it can be used for a mulitude of uses.

Anyway good to see u all

Okay, this is something that I've actually been curious about. Why doesn't vB.org allow the lockdown hack on it? I'm not savvy with all this stuff, but from what I've read, it doesn't do anything bad, correct? All it does is disallows people from seeing posts until they reply or something to that extent. I'm not toally sure, but I've just been quite curious over what the big hoopla is that it's banned over there. I don't want to install it because a) it's WAY beyond my hacking abilities (well, not really, the hacking is easy but I'd find a way to screw it up), and b) I don't need it on my board, but really, why is it such a big deal?

edit: I'm asking this here because I'm too scared to ask over there ^_^
