Default Not Registered Strip

Apologies if this is posted in wrong area.

Ive seen a mod, hack on other forums not just Vbulletin but phpbb & ipb forums that have a "it appears you have not registered with our forum. to register please click here"

Ive searched everywhere to try and find out if its a hack, mod or whatever but to no avail, hopefully you guys will no.

just come across another site with the strip but this one is on a ipb but its just to give you an idea what im on about, as i do need it for vb.

David means that yellow bar that goes across the top and looks like the IE6SP2+ "this site tried to do something but here at Microsoft, we break site functionality by denying it that chance. You can manually do the thing if you like but it will cause your PC to melt down" bar.
It's here: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showt...&highlight=bar

The message built into vb is the standard welcome message that appears to guests.

lol, nice post xD. btw. would not reccomend installation some browseres arn't compatible and some can jam putting visitors totally off your site.

oh yeah and one more thing: "Not Registered Strip" if you rewrite as "Not Registered, Strip" then it sounds more perverted xD

Hah. Good catch! Anyways, that is a template modification i believe. Make a search for "not registered message".

I wouldn't personally recommend it for three reasons:
1. It's at 0,0 on the page. That means it's the very first thing people see, even before a site logo. You'd be asking people to register on a site they haven't even seen yet, which is a bit illogical
2. IE uses a yellow bar to warn you of popups and downloads, firefox uses a similar one to warn you of popups. If I saw a yellow bar on a site I may think it was trying to spawn popups which is an instant reason to hit the back button. Granted, I would probably read the bar, but others may not
3. It simply says ~'you haven't registered, click here to do so.' The welcome message can fit a lot more useful info in. If you haven't got the welcome message then you don't tell people what your site offers, and if you do have the welcome message then you don't need the yellow bar

Just my opinions, naturally.

Imo that thing is nearly as annoying as one of those unclosable popus which stick on your screen for 10 seconds asking you to register..

Yeah I agree about annoying, if I see one of them on a forum I won't even hang around to see if it's worth registering.
