Im building a forum for a client and it has around 10 catagories and 4 -6 child. Problem is it imakes for a long looking page and would like to make it looke smaller. I have tried making it use sub forums but the threads, post and moderators are not be ing used and the over all looks really poor. Any one have any suggestion on hacks to make it look cleaner and not so long winded.

You can use a forum tabbing modifications, it creates different tabs for all categories which when click on switches the list of forums the the child forums of that category.
