One forum is what you would say public anyone brouseing could find it so it would be , say i have this site settup like this /public_html/forums<--- the forums folder would be the public site i was meaning and is VB3.6.7then inside this forum folder i have another folder which would be /public_html/forums/private forums, which would be another complete install of VB Both forums are running VB3.6.7

The first site being such as (www.mysite.com) the second site would be like (ww.mysite.com/forums/privateforums) these are examples , what i would like to do is to have the second restricted to personal friends and not accessable to anyone from the main forum I would like to have an option of approveing members as it isnt going to be a big site only members that are allowed or asked to join,

So it is a site inside another sites folder which i want to make personal invite only. Can someone share some info on this with me I just want a private site for freinds and as it seems im slightly lost, would it need to be in the index.php or am i wrong ?

Well Hassaan made a invite script and released it here. Also, vb only allows you 1 install per directory, so you must buy another one to do this.

but yes you can do what you are asking simply by placing the .htaccess inside the your seconds forums location if you follow.
But again as whitemike has said, you will need another vb licence or risk having it revoked

thanks for the replys guys just looking for a way of haveing a private forum for me and some buds and all answers were appreciated , I also wanted it seperate in most cases from my regular forums because of with public forums you have to worry about people playing around if you have left a hole in your security .

vBulletin is a very secure script. as long as you dont have a leak in your admin team, then your safe ;)
