If it's true, you failed to make it a household name and therefore it would have died.
AJAX is a succesful acronym that has allowed this technology to reach into everyones lives and the web will be a better place for it.
Get over it.
It's called AJAX because people like to call it AJAX.
no one but geeks like to say XMLHttpRequest and XHR is not as fun as AJAX.
XMLHttpRequest is only one aspect of the technology involved. There is also javascript and XML. So AJAX is obviously the more inclusive title and is a shoe that fits well.
