Developers making hacks/mods

I've read on vbulletin.com that some developers have suggestions that don't make it into the product.
Why don't say, "Scott" (for example) create a hack of a suggestion that got dismissed?

Thats a pretty good idea. If they don't want to make it default, give us hackers the chance to code the idea for others to use only as a plugin.

I saw it a while back and the idea has been circlating(sp?) in my head since then.
