Default Are you using an arcade?

And do you think it helps? Do you have stats you can share from it? Do you allow all members to access it?

Using: Yes I am, v3arcade 1.0.6 (* boots John up the rear to get the next one out)
Helps: Yes it does, a bit. It's novelty more than anything, you have to keep adding games to keep people interested.
Stats: 100 unique active members to the site in the last 3 months. 23 of them made up 1210 gaming sessions.
Who: Only reg'd can access it though that's more to do with recording the score for guests than forcing registrations.

Interesting note: Every month I reduce all the scores by 15%. That maintains the current rankings as they are but gives players a renewed chance to beat any high scores they couldn't beat before. It also encourages members who had the top scores to reclaim them.

I just opened our arcade up on our forum! And it is a HIT!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't have any stats as it is too new, but I have received nothing but great comments about it.

Interesting about reducing the scores. Can this be done on ipprocade?

On my old forum I ran an arcade and people loved it. Its a shame its so easy to cheat the scores though.

i find it helps loads to start then the novalty wears off.

i also added the hack that you could only get access if you posted in the last x days. this kept those who really wanted it active in the forums too

Hey, that sounds like a great hack! Posting to play!

Do you have a link to that hack?

I should think so, but I don't know the tables or fields ibp uses. I'll paste my code for v3 and you can sample that if you like:

You must first be a registered member to view any code.
I have it on a cron that runs:
Day of week: *
Day of month: 1
Hour: 0
Minute: 4

It takes less than a second doing 1300 scores.

Using ibProArcade v2.5.6+ with 111 games. The members use it regulary. I require that members must have at least 2 posts before they can use the arcade, and limit them to 5 score submissions every 24 hours. (prevents people from signing up just to use the arcade, and prevents people from over using the arcade)
