Default At what point does a forum take a life of it's own?

I don't think there is a magic number but I would like to think that around 500-1000 posts a day your forum is almost self sufficient and can operate daily without your help.

Now obviously you will need a great staff in place and you will still have to be active but it won't be until that point that you can actually take a breather.

So when did your forum take on a life of it's own?

With a good, solid staff I think it can take care of itself once you hit about 500+ posts a day.

It all depends on how many members it has.

Ofcourse if the forums have a low member count, but the members are very active (for example 50 members, posting a total of 200 posts per day) I'd say that was highly active and self sufficient, and a great incentive for people to sign up and carry on the growth.

Probably when it doesn't need you anymore - your staff build up the success, like Lee's staff members do on his communities.

I think you hit the nail on the head with 500, but only if you have great moderators helping you out with the forum. You did mention that though.

Well, I forgot to mention - does a community really needs its owner posting a ton on a daily basis, or should he/she continue to build up content until a staff member or two takes over his daily job of posting new content?
