How do you determine forum success?

success is not very easy to be defined.

For a clan leader to have all the members join the forums is success
For a torrent site forum to have 1000 post a day asking the same thing is disaster
For a site with 850 unique visitors per day and 63 members in the last 5 months is disaster (that's my case)


For me a successful forum it means to have at least the 1/3 of your members visiting you almost every day and maybe make a post or two.

The same my point but I just need 20% of members not 1/3 !!!

When you get others talking on your competors sites about your layout.. Would love to start making money of a site.. just hard to get folks to donate

When you have regular users coming back daily and posting often, and when you get a fair amount of new users registering and posting.

Maybe 1-2 members a day, 300+ posts a day, IMO that is pretty good. But it can't just be like same 5 people making up like 90% of your posts, better if like a good chunk of your members post.

Active members.

Active members means people who post,views and do everything to make my forum grow bigger.
