Simply enabling your own RSS system is nice for users, and if they want they can include it in their own sites.

As for getting RSS feeds from news sites etc: it's always nice to have a discussion about the current news. Depending on the topic of the board, it might even be a big plus.

For example: I used to admin a forum about computer problems/solutions, and it had a news section which displayed the RSS feeds. People loved to comment on this, and possibly add corrections/explenations.. this certainly was a must for that forum.
