Hello everyone! It has been a year since our forum was opened and it has grown beyond belief in terms of it starting from the default style to what it is today.

We have installed dozens upon dozens of hacks and the number keeps increasing. I was made aware that having too many can really wreak havoc on the forum. One of the staff members here linked me to this thread:

Upon reading it I have developed several questions. The first being that after all this time installing hacks I never under stood what exactly queries are and how they affect the functionality of the forum. I am hoping to get educated about this here. How do you find out how many queries you are running? This seemed to be a big question in the link I provided above.

It does appear if you have a good webhost the chances decrease for problems to arise. However, one recent hack isn't working as it is designed and now I am wondering if this is a sign of things to come.

I am hoping to learn more about the do and don't of hacks in this thread and what you can do to protect your forum from unwanted things. Thank you all for your help!
