Forum signature advertising

There was a time about 2 years ago that this was a very hot thing to do but I find it "out of style" now and days and can't find much information on it. I really do think the idea itself is worthy and can generate you some decent targetted traffic.

But what do you think the costs should be? Lets say a user has 2,000 posts on a site and you want 1 link in their sig, what should you pay per month?

Also do you think this is something you would try out?

This is certainly a good idea imo. I'd take a look at the user's recent PPD (Posts Per Day), this'd take some time as vB doesn't calculate it very well (takes the average of the whole membership rather than the recent period). If a user has, say, 10 posts per day this'd mean 10 links to your site per day. Certainly worth it imo ;)

I think it is worth it and I have paid for some of this in the past. Not sure how effective it was overall though.

you would want to add a sort of referrer code to it so you know who brings in the members ;)
