Do you follow different blogs about your forum genre, do you ever wish they would blog about your site? Well the easiest way to do this is just ask, bloggers are always looking for good content/stories/sites to write about and heck why not yours. Just provide them with a summary of what they should write about and give it a shot, believe me it won't hurt and heck you might find them browsing for stories from time to time on your forum. Heck even ask them to register.

This is an easy and free way to get some promotion, just remember Bloggers can be great friends!
