If you had $1,000 to blow on advertising your forum what would you consider doing?

I'd probably try to make a deal with some site with roughly the same subject to get a banner on their site. The rest of the money I'd invest in some of the suggestions mentioned in this forum

buy a commercial air time on "superball" ... :p ....lol
though that would prolly need as much as x200000000 more money...

on a more serious note: i guess ads @ related magazine related to your forum or @ some media that has some good expose ratio to community related would be good.

I'd purchase text links on other communities relating to mine and spend some on hiring paid posters.

I would hire 10 really nice looking girls, and body paint my forum url on them. And then let them run thruh the streets That would get some attention

Get 5 really fat ones instead. It'll attract just as much attention, and you can fit trice as much text on them aswell as them being a lot cheaper ;).

Sex & Free stuff seem to be the best in the advertising world. Maybe use the money to combine the 2 together... make up some shirts/shorts/postage stamps, etc with your site, or ad on it. Get some ladies to pose with the items, and then give the stuff away or through contests.
