Default [How To] Run vBulletin On your P.C.

Use PhpTriad
Quick little tutorial on how to get this working with PhpTriad:

  • 1.Download and Install "PhpTriad" (http://sourceforge.net/projects/phptriad/)
    2. Goto C:\apache\mysql\bin\ and run winmysqladmin
    3. If it asks you for a username or password, enter root for username and password for the password.
    6. Goto your start menu > PHPtriad > Apache Console > Stop Apache. (this step might now even be needed, but was for me)
    7. Now go to start menu > PHPtriad > Apache Console > Start Apache
    8. Apache will come up in a window, simply minimize it.
    9. Goto http://localhost/ and you're done!
"c:\apache\htdocs" is where your main index file is located, use that directory like you would as your webhosting.

Example, if I wanted to make a link "http://localhost/mysite" i would simple create a new directory called "c:\apache\htdocs\mysite".

How do I make a new database?
Glad you asked, its quite simple. Look at your task menu. You should see a little traffic light icon. Right click that and selected "Show Me." A menu should pop up now. Go to the databases tab, and right click on your computer name, then select create database. Call it anything you wish. Remember that your username is "root" and your password is "password."

Whats the traffic light icon mean?
Simple....if it's green then your MYsql database is running properly, if it's yellow or red then you might have to restart your computer.

This is the easiest way to run PHP on your home computer, you should now be able to install and code anything you want. You can use Notepad to code if you like. I like using Winsyntax 2.0. Its all color coded and very simple to use, you can go to www.downloads.com and download it for free. Any other questions, please ask me

Another Easyway to run PHP/MySQL/Apache on your computer is to go to www.easyphp.org and download EasyPHP 1.7. It's very easy to use, as well as easy to set up.

Problem is... it's in a different language. :p

But it should be pretty straightforward.
