vB 3.6.0 Compatible!
Template Modification
This modification is for postbit LEGACY. If you would like the standard postbit version of this modification, please click HERE. Thank You.

Added feature over standard version:
Adds a new section in your members profile that allows your members to choose where the 'emergency button' sends them.

What this mod does and how it works:

How would you like to encourage people to surf your forum more often while they are at work? A lot of people are afraid to go to regular web sites, because if their boss walks in and catches them - they are up a creek without a paddle. This mod gives them a paddle! ;) Of course this mod could also be used if your members aren't at work, and they simply want a quick and handy way to go to another important site. All they need to do is to set this feature to Yes (in their profile) and type in the full URL for where they want the escape button to send them.

This mod inserts a special section in each members profile which asks your members if they want to display an 'emergency escape' button in every postbit. Then, if anyone happens to walk into the room while they are at work surfing your forum, they simply click on the 'escape' button, and it immediately sends them to the URL that they requested in their own profile settings. Once there they can simply say they're doing a bit of work related research ;) This gives your members more confidence to surf your forum, over another forum that doesn't have this hack installed. If a member doesn't want the button to show up, they simply turn it off at any time in their profile. This also gives guests another reason to register on your site, as this feature is only available to members. We recommend that you make a formal announcement telling your members about this new feature, or they may not know it exist in their profile. This code has been tested and shown to be compatible with vB 3.6. Thank you.

I tried it, wont work on my 3.6.0 forum... when I went to the profile, and chose "yes" nothing showed up, and when I clicked... Save Changes... it referd me to another page and sayd... A required field called Your Personal Escape Address is missing or has an invalid value.

I checked everything, and done everything what the instructions have specified, everything is perfect...

I have no clue why it would not work, but it would be a great thing for my forum if it did...

-Alex

This means you missed something. I would need admin privileges to check your templates. You could also uninstall and try to reinstall again.

I'm having a problem. I double checked my work, I may still be missing something. I setup the modz, and everything seems to be working. I got the field names from the User Profile Field Manager, under the "Name" Column, mine are called field 5 and field 6, and I put those in the postbit legacy mod.

However, when I turn mine on, let's say to www.vbhackers.com, instead of linking there, it links to the same page that I'm on... Let's say my profile is set to www.vbhackers.com... However, I'm actually viewing page "http://www.xxxxxx.com/forum/showthread.php?p=79#post79", instead of linking me to vbhackers, it links me to "http://www.xxxxxx.com/forum/showthread.php?p=79#post79"... Any ideas on maybe what I did wrong? I hope I'm not missing something easy...

PS. Thanks for the great hack, we need it for the type of forum we're running!

Edit: Upon looking further, it looks like with threads with only 1 post, such as a rule sticky, it does the above. With threads with more than 1 post, it works right, but only in the 1st post. The buttons below the 1st post all link to the same page that I'm viewing...

Edit Again: It looks like it's sending me to another user's saved field. So if my asst admin has his setup as www.yahoo.com, whenever I click on the button in his post, it goes to www.yahoo.com... If I click a post to someone who has nothing setup, it reverts to the page I'm viewing... So wierd...

Question

OK thanks. So that I can try to recreate your problem tomorrow, what version of vB are you using?
