New Posting Features - Thread Starter Recognition

This hack signifies who the original thread starter is throughout an entire thread. It's a great feature for multi-page and extra long threads. This modification will work for either postbit style, and comes in a choice of four image colors (black, white, red and blue) to match any postbit background!

It's a great way to encourage members to start new threads because only they will receive the 'Thread Starter' image in their postbit. See screenshot below for more information. This modification has been fully tested and works in both 3.5.x and 3.6.x versions of vB. Enjoy

Wanted to thank you again for this hack... took me weeks to design a graphic I liked and a location, but at last... *whew*....

Ended up making a button that matches the IP/Online/Report Post buttons and put it down there. Looks and works good. Just another option for others to consider.

Actually in my first version of this hack that's also where I put it ;) Another idea is if you have a donation hack installed, turn the 'thread starter' icon into a button (since it matches all the other buttons anyway) and then when someone clicks on it (which is inevitable since it looks like all the other buttons) it sends them to the donation form ;)

I may have a variation of this, where clicking on the thread starter icon sends them to the thread starters profile

I had the same problem with it only showing up on the first post, so I went into the vboptions/message posting and editing options/ and checked the yes box for "Automatically Quote Post / Thread Title". That way every post has the spot for it.

I'm not a great coder but wouldn't these conditionals make a difference for this showing up?

If the user doesn't select a messageicon or put in a title; then there's not a spot for this image whether the username matches or not. I assumed that's why it would only show on the first post unless the thread starter just happened to add an icon or title to any subsequent posts. By changing the option I did in vboptions it guarantee's there will be a title in every post. Though it's not a feature I would normally have if not for this cool hack. ;)

Are you saying that it didn't work, and then you turned this feature on and then it suddenly started working?

I would really like to know if that's the case as well. Because I have always had that feature disabled on my forum. If that's all I have to do to get this to work, I'm willing to bite the bullet and enable it.

True that... I had it enabled and worked fine, but moved it anyway and so it wouldn't matter.
