New Posting Features - Thread Starter Recognition

This hack signifies who the original thread starter is throughout an entire thread. It's a great feature for multi-page and extra long threads. This modification will work for either postbit style, and comes in a choice of four image colors (black, white, red and blue) to match any postbit background!

It's a great way to encourage members to start new threads because only they will receive the 'Thread Starter' image in their postbit. See screenshot below for more information. This modification has been fully tested and works in both 3.5.x and 3.6.x versions of vB. Enjoy

That would work only if the image was located in the default image directory. Without seeing his server we wouldn't know if that's the case, but a lot of people condense all of the vB folders into one folder to keep everything on the server neater, and in that case he'd need the exact location. Either way is worth a try though. My point is that it may need more location information then it's getting ;)

I tried the other suggestion and that doesn't appear to work either.

Is anyone else having any problem with the image showing ONLY on the original post, but nowhere else in the thread where the author posts??

Reading back through this thread, I see that at least one other person has had this problem, only on his board the image did show up intermittently. On mine it shows up NOWHERE but on the original post. Well everyone already knows who the thread author is there, lol.

Also, fyi, I have only 5 or 6 hacks installed.

I've never had an issue with it OHS, and I've installed it on 3 or 4 sites now.. If you want I can take a look, but I'd double check and make sure you did, and placed, the edits in the right spots

This hack uses only vB code. If it doesn't work then it's because of the way skin is coded. A lot of time skinners take 'shortcuts' and usually that's not a problem, although it can cause problems like this down the line.

Ahhhh! I see their is another person that ran into this problem. I guess there is no way to fool the skin code is there?

Well, I am relieved to see that it isn't because of all my hacks, but rather a skin thing. Thanks anyway for offering this though. Hopefully, one day a product like this will come out that beats the skinners. LOL

I'm not convinced that it's a skin issue. Simply because I don't create skins (meaning I don't change template codes etc), I style, meaning I customize existing images, such as backgrounds, buttons, gradients, headers, forum Icon markers, etc.

This is especially true of the style I'm trying to add this hack to. I've done nothing to it yet, other than to add a background image. That's it. The whole rest of the style is default vB because I've only just now started working on it.
