vB 3.6.0 Compatible!
Template Modification
This hack signifies who the original thread starter is throughout an entire thread. It's a great feature for multi-page and extra long threads. This modification will work for either postbit style, and comes in a choice of four image colors (black, white, red and blue) to match any postbit background!

It's a great way to encourage members to start new threads because only they will receive the 'Thread Starter' image in their postbit. See screenshot below for more information. This modification has been fully tested and works in both 3.5.x and 3.6.x versions of vB. Enjoy

Hi Doggy1. Sometimes it's the shear number of hacks that makes the forum act unpredictable at times. I remember not to long ago another vB user was saying that some of his hacks weren't working all the time, but no one else was having any problems with the same hacks. Turns out he was addicted to installing hacks and the shear number of hacks installed on his board was the culprit. Once he started to remove some of the hacks, things started to work a little more smoothly.

If you come up with any ideas please let me know.
I will contact vB support for you and ask them if there is any reason why this vB code would act that way. They may have heard of something that could lead us to a solution for you

Do you know if there are similar hacks like this roaming around that I could maybe try?
Nope, I generally try to think outside the box when it comes to vB. The main part of the code is standard vB code and that's why you shouldn't be having any problems like this if everything on the forum is working smoothly. Have you tested this on the default vB skin? My guess is that it's your skin that may have something to do with this. A skin that is not kept up to date or that is poorly coded is one of the biggest reasons why people have problems with hacks. I would shut the forum down for a few minutes and install this on the default vB skin. Then check to see how it responds. It would be a good diagnoses tool.

I am running 3.54 and this was made for 3.6, right?
I actually made this for 3.5.4 first. The code in that area is the same as 3.6.x. That doesn't mean that upgrading won't help you. Something else may be causing the problem and upgrading may fix that for you. Hack aside, I'd upgrade anyway. 3.6 is much nicer than 3.5.

By the way congrats on becoming a staff member and advanced coder here. Excellent choice.
Thank you very much for the kind compliment Doggy1 We're all trying to make vBHackers the best vB site on the net. If you have any ideas on helping us to meet that goal please let us hear your suggestions. We're here to serve you

Thanks for the reply Colonel Ingus.

Yes, it is a very good possibility that this is hack compatibility related. We are definitely addicted to hacks. I lost count on how many we have. It may even be 100 or more!!!!!

Fortunately we have not experienced any strange things happening while uploading a specific hack. We only had the thing with the escape button which was a similiar problem but it was fixed.

I did remove a couple of hacks that we really didn't need and no improvement. We have so many hacks it would be nearly impossible to determine which one is doing this if it is indeed a hack related matter.

I will look into installing this in the default. Default? What is that? LOL! I have to find it. I haven't looked at the default since we opened the forum.

If you learn anything at vb please let me know. Hopefully, we can get it to work on our forums. Thanks again!

That's a bit much. You'll probably start seeing more and more issues arise in the future. This thread talks about it a little. Notice where zac says "This is what overhacking causes. untraceable problems."

This is the skin that was initially installed with your forum when you first installed it. If you happened to have uninstalled it, then I would reinstall it. Sometimes it is called the Master skin. It's good to keep it around for diagnosis purposes. Make sure you shut your forum down before you install and test

Master style actually :p But old lady talk aside, all it is is:
You must first be a registered member to view any code.
Unless your forum is so heavily modded that it can't remember what $thread[postusername] i suggest you reinstall the whole thing because that sounds seriously buggered to me.. You could try:
You must first be a registered member to view any code.
In case it makes a difference as it has once before....

Thanks guys!!!!!!

I just read that thread Colonel Ingus and that looks scary!!!!!!!!

I don't want this topic to hijack your product you are offering so I am going to start another thread elsewhere as this topic is definitely of interest to me and maybe others who are addicted to hacks. Oh, I did really know what the default style is, I was just being a clown. LOL!

Thanks again for your help, and if you do find another code that may work for this Thread Starter hack me let me know.

Thread Starter is a great hack and keep up the great work!!!!!!! I'lll see you in my other thread!

Yeah loading up the server like that tends to be a big burdon on it, but I don't think it's the numbers of hacks as much as the stress they accumulatively put on the server. That's why some forums can get away with 100 hacks and others get by with 150. The host may play a part in this too.

Just for the fun of it try this: where it says:

You must first be a registered member to view any code.
Change that to:

You must first be a registered member to view any code.
It might just help. It certainly won't hurt ;)

Hello. I made the change and the same result came. That is, not all of the images show up in all the posts.

Without seeing his server we wouldn't know if that's the case, but a lot of people condense all of the vB folders into one folder to keep everything on the server neater, and in that case he'd need the exact location. Either way is worth a try though. My point is that it may need more location information then it's getting ;)
