What happens when you try to view your image directly?

If you see a black image then your image may be corrupt and you may need to make a new one. Also make sure you uploaded it correctly, usually setting your FTP client to automatic should work fine. If you post the URL to the image here I will check it for you in Photoshop
Well, well, well.....

It looks like I may have uploaded the image to the wrong file, perhaps. I got to look into this. Did I need to upload the image in an actual file named "forum"?????

could not locate the page you requested:
/forum/images/staffbg.gif
Please check your address and try again!

Log into your server via FTP.

Go here:

Your Forum > Images folder > The skin you want to use > misc folder > place your background image here

If you can view the image directly then it's in the right place.

Thanks! I did notice that although the background image is showing up the entire postbit is black. The postbits for the regular members remains in the color of the style. Is this supposed to happen? Or should the black background be gone? Just wondering.

Only if you already intentionally made the postbit black.

This hack has no effect on the postbit area at all.

It only adds a background image behind the avatar ;)

Is there a way to specify the height of the background image as well. Some of the staff do not have or use avatars or have a different size as another. This causes the boxes below to overlap. If there is a way to code in a height that would be most excellent. I tried a couple different things but am going on little sleep so I am probly over looking something. Any help would be appreciated.
I tried adding :
You must first be a registered member to view any code.
to the Additional CSS Definitions to no avail. I also tried adding the height in the postbit like this:
You must first be a registered member to view any code.
Anyway if someone could point out my errors, that would be awesome. Thanks in advance. And I love the hack.

There is another hack at .org that adds a default avatar when none is used. You should probably install it and make a default forum avatar to use. As far as the other size issues, the admin needs to reinforce the fact to thier staff that all staff backgrounds not only should be the same size, but also the same background, otherwise it kind of defeats the main purpose of this ;)

Does that mean that adding a default height is not an option? Rather I have to require the use of an avatar (which default site avatars are very tacky in my opinion) and all staff usergroups have to have the exact same size. That or I have to make backgrounds specific to each usergroup and then code them each seperate. It would be easier for me and much cleaner to just be able to add a default height to the coding of this hack so it matters not if they have an avatar.
