Scrolling News Text

As requested here: Marqueeeing or scrolling info/news hack.

What this does
This will show you a news box on your forumhome page with your sites news in it.



Features:
  • Completely Admin CP controlled.
  • Turn News on/off (ACP)
  • The News Title (ACP)
  • The News Message (ACP)
  • Turn scroll on/off (ACP)
  • Determine the scroll direction (ACP)
  • The amount of times the scroll will loop (ACP)
To do list...
  • Time to install: 15 minutes
  • Queries to run: 0
  • File Mods: 3
    • /admincp/global.php
    • /admincp/index.php
    • /forum/index.php
  • Templates to edit: 1
  • Templates to add: 1
  • New Phrases: 1

Please read carefully and make all the necessary changes at stated. This is will work if installed properly.

Very nice hack i was using a marque effect on my frontpage but it was a pain in the but to change it. Before i install this hack. Is there a way so that the text will stop scrolling on mouseover?

You must first be a registered member to view any code.
Thats the code i use for general scrolling text.

I figured i had better ask before i started tinkering and screwed the whole thing up. :bawling:

Guess I should of read everything before i asked. I simply inserted the mouse over stop script into the test box and everything worked out very nicely. Well Done very usefull hack

its kinda groovey thanks matey.

one small question.

i have a board style that is smaller than the default skin how can i stop it pushing through the edges please.

me clicks install

Great hack and well explained .. just one small error on the install text .. this part is listed twice :-

"Click on the [Add Setting] link and enter the following settings from below
===========================
Varname: news_message
Setting Group: Scroll News
Title: News Message
Description: The message you want to show on the forumhome (HTML is allowed)
Option Code: textarea
Default: Leave Blank
Display Order: 30
vBulletin Default: yes"

Clicked install
