As requested here: Marqueeeing or scrolling info/news hack.

What this does
This will show you a news box on your forumhome page with your sites news in it.

Features:

Completely Admin CP controlled.
Turn News on/off (ACP)
The News Title (ACP)
The News Message (ACP)
Turn scroll on/off (ACP)
Determine the scroll direction (ACP)
The amount of times the scroll will loop (ACP)

To do list...

Time to install: 15 minutes
Queries to run: 0
File Mods: 3
- /admincp/global.php
- /admincp/index.php
- /forum/index.php
Templates to edit: 1
Templates to add: 1
New Phrases: 1

Well spotted Kirk :knockedou

I took the collasible code from a welcome hack I had installed. After you posted the above I double checked some other blocks I have installed and the welcome hack. It seems that was missing from my welcome hack. Fixed now and thanks for the above error pointed out.

I will edit my post above to include your fix

Well spotted Kerk.

I have edited the template I posted to include that fix now so it stays closed when the page is re-freshed in my previous post.

I would just like to point somthing out:

1: When you use Firefox the box does not shrink and keep in-line with the rest of the other blocks like it does in IE. This is due to the fact the marquee script is really only an IE supported code. And if you reduce the size of your Firefox browser the news scroller stays full width if you display a long message.

2: Also the option to only display the scrolling text so many times in the main options is not suported by Firefox, no matter if you enter "1", it will still scroll none stop in Firefox and not just once.

I just wanted to point this out for Firefox users, or people who want hacks installed that are fully cross browser compatible, the <marquee> tag is for Internet explorer only and is not fully cross browser compatible in Firefox as pointed out above.

well it doesent show some images from the theme but it's ok (if you got what i mean).

Hey, I installed this on vb 3.5, I changed the $vboptions['x'] to $vbulletin->options['x'], but I get
array[news_title] and also array['news_message']....
What did I do wrong?

I modified and ported this hack to 3.5 version as a product (install time - 20 sec.)
but settings in russian language =))
