What This Hack Does.

This hack add a userlike bot to your forums. You can set which forum he will post in and how often he will reply to poeples posts. He will try and build his replies off the text that they posted. This bot will learn overtime slowly from your users posts. I will also be seeing about porting over the teachbot soon.

Some New Features
acp controlled Rate Of Post
ability to post as bot and he will not reply
post count will not go up in forums where post counts are turned off
a few options to turn off and on a few things including the script itself.
Some other stuff i just cant remember

Fixed in 2.0.2:
Go advanced feature works for quick reply.
Bot will no longer reply when post is stopped becuase of an error. (aka floodlimit, to many images, ect)

Fixed in 2.0.1:
Fixed a few minor problems including using the wrong variable in the if statement for the random smilie check.
fixed the install.txt problem used a find code that was from one of my modifications sorry about that.

Upgrading From v2.0.1 Instructions:
These are in the v202 upgrade file

Upgrading From v2.0.0 Instructions:
To upgrade from v2.0 just make your changes to the new _talkerbot.php file and replace the old v2.0 one.

Upgrading From v1 Instructions:
Just use the install.txt and do the forum.php in the acp directory edits.
Add the new phrase and run the query.

Todo List:
Move all settings to acp settings page
fix the floodcheck problem of bot still replying when users post is not made.
Clean up the code more
Figure out more stuff todo.

I'd love to be able to use this...but with my host, I'm not able to load the aiml files...it always times out.

I did the install all the way up to the aiml files.

Is there an easy uninstaller so I can start over from the beginning?

Also, is there a way to break up the aiml files into MUCH MUCH smaller ones?

Heres the way to go around the timeout. Just only load like 2-3 aiml files in the dir at a time. Then run the botloader.php. That should do the trick for you.

Hi Tim,

Great hack, my forum members are enjoying it a great deal. Also, good luck with this site! Two questions:

1. Should the AAA .aiml files from alicebot.org be compatible with this bot? I'd love to upload some extras from there.

2. Is there any way to give the bot a posting delay? Maybe a 10-15 second delay before it posts?

All the aiml files from there should work. If you would please post the extra ones here for others to enjoy. Doing the delay would be a great deal of work.

Hi, I installed this from vb.org and saw your reply to post over here for support. My bot is working okay, but "she" isn't using random smilies. I reran botloader tonight and when it was complete I saw these same warnings I had seen during the first install. I had forgotten to post about them and ask if I had done something incorrectly. Anyway, here are the warnings... Do they have anything to do with the random smilie issue?

Correct me if i'm wrong (I haven't slept yet heh) but it looks like it's having a problem opening up subs.inc. Try making sure the file is chmod'd correctly, that its set 777 on all alice files. use CHMOD via ftp for everything in alice or chmod -R 777 * if you use ssh in your public_html/forums/alice directory.)

When my users attempt to post in the forum, they get an error such as

Hmm. Is that when they hit maybe go advanced from the quick reply box? If it is please upgrade to 2.0.2 if its not let me know and I will try and find time to look at your hacked files. Also have you tried rehacking? Only thing I can think is you placed the edits in the wrong spot or are using 2.0.0 or 2.0.1
