Expired Threads

What this does
This will allow you as the admin to set a time limit till a thread is considered expired. If the thread happens to be expired, the user will see a error message. But a staff member (ie, mod, sup-mod, and admin) can unexpire the thread by posting in it, then the counter will start over again. This will prevent those anoyying thread digger members we all seem to dislike.

This works as a per forum basis. You can turn on/off any forum you want.



Please read carefully and make all the necessary changes as stated. This is will work if installed properly.

It should be in days. Unless i uploaded the old version.

noticed two really small errors on the code, first on:

print_input_row($vbphrase['how_many_Days_till_expire'],forum[daysexpired]', $forum['daysexpired']);

should be changed to:

print_input_row($vbphrase['how_many_Days_till_expire'],'forum[daysexpired]', $forum['daysexpired']);

notice the added ' before forum[daysexpired]

and then on phrases, either make that above vbphrase fully in low case or change the instructions to read:
Phrase Type: Forum-Related
Varname: how_many_Days_till_expire
Text: How Many Days Till Thread Is Expired

(capital D added to varname)

this works wonderfully... I removed the ability of admin/mods to reply and keep the thread open (since on my forum the threads are useless after 7 days)... was really easy to do

i was messing around with trying to create another hack to expire the thread after 25 replies, wasn't having much luck.

any pointers that could help me with that?

*waits for someone to point out the correlation between 7 days and 25 replies*
