Most people pay for a shoutcast service, co-locate a server, host small servers on their local cable / dsl modem, or install via SSH to their web host.

Make sure you have Unlimited Bandwith on your web package.

The bandwith useage depends on "# of users connected" and the quility of the song in kbps.

uploadspeed / bitrate = max listeners , always leave some for overhead

Example: 256k upload speed / 56k bitrate = max 4 listeners ( 4* 56 = 224kbps ) keep in mind that your provider says he gives you 256kbps upload, the actual speed might be much lower.

I have an old "how to install multi server on to redhat" I need to update.

Windows based shoutcast servers are a simple EXE install and edit an ini file.

If you have a router / firewall in place you will need to forward and open the ports needed to run the shoutcast server.

Cool Thanks for releasing this.. I sometimes have music nights on my forum using shoutcast and my members love it...
If you members enjoy music i would say give shoutcast a try its fun, especially as you Dj in the shoutbox while loading up the next track lol..

Okay, I got it installed now, but it will not display the data.

It says my server is down; however myself, and my friends are able to connect to the radio and the radio program itself is showing my server is running and active. What's wrong?
