I finally got this to work however I noticed that my backup file genetrated by this hack is 16mb smaller that my normal forum backup file created when I backup within VB. What would be the reason for this?

Also, do new files get greated each time or are they overwritten? If new ones are created, is there a way to set how long to keep the oldest file before it's deleted?

Thanks

It might be smaller because it's compressed. To be sure you can simply compare the 2 file's contents with a program like Araxis Merge.

I believe a new file is created every time. I don't think its possible to delete old backups though.

I woudn't recommend compairing the 2. Most text programs will crash if you try opening a back SQL file, if you own a large forum of course.

Could be the comments that vBulletin sets? Im not sure, I've been using this method for years and have never had a problem. As a matter of fact I had to use it when we upgraded to 3.5.4 because I deleted a whole forum by mistake. :p

If you want, you could open 2 test sites and compair the 2 database together. Though I doubt you will find a diffrence. Also, backing up from the admincp is not a very secure and safe way to backup your fourms. When your forums become larger, you will begin to get PHP timeout errors.
