[AJAX] User Of The Day

If you want a screen shot just ask but i don't think it is really necessary

What this does
Picks a new user out of the database at midnight and then displays it on forumhome.

To do list...

* Time to install: 1
* New Templates: 1
* Template Edits: 1
* New Files: 2
* New Phrases: 0
* New Plugins: 1

Instructions
Import the attached XML and then Upload random.php to ./includes/cron and pickuser.php to forumroot. Add $randomusertable anywhere you want. I suggest under $navbar in FORUMHOME. Add a cron job with the Name: User of The Day which runs every:
Month: *
Hour: 0
Minute: 0
And then file: ./includes/cron/random.php

When I installed the hack I used the Re-draw function to change User, and on clicking it a few times it went into data error and the forum changed to white!

So I set up cron to change every 6 hours, and that was that.

When time came, suddenly I get all these data error messages, and the site shut down with just that Data Error logo displayed at the top left corner...it stayed that way for 10 minutes!

Any idea's?

redownload random.php and aupload it to includes/cron and tell me if it works.

This hack would be totally sweet if the Admin could define some criteria like Minimum Rep/posts or excluded UserGroups, etc...

The only thing keeping me from using it is that I don't want inactive/banned members showing up - even with the redraw button thingy.... ;)

And have it show several users?

You could update this hack to do it or just make another one... seeing as it would be random users on home page rather than user of the day.
