Hey there,

First release here, I'm sure most might know me from over at vB.org, in anycase they broke my vBShout, so here's a fixed version, with a few extra bits:

- Flatfile System (Seriously cuts any intensity this once created before)
- Bug Fix: ' used to break edit shout
- Bug Fix: Users couldn't edit/delete their shouts
- Bug Fix: Parsing problem (that vb.org created..)
- Feature Disabled: Timestamps, this is unfortunatly due to using a flat file system.

Enjoy everyone, if you have the previous vBShout installed, I suggest uninstallation the previous vBShout product then installating this one fresh (saves you havning to revert templates).

Also, this will work for any vB 3.5 installation

I installed this hack successfully on my 3.6.7 board. Thanks for the great hack Zero T. My shoutbox displays on forum home to members and guests. One little issue I discovered was that the forumhome_vbshout template is uncached when I'm not logged in. It's cached when I'm logged in. This seems to be because the hook - fetch_userinfo - is not called in forumhome as viewed by a guest or a member who hasn't logged in.

I went into the Plugin Manager and changed the hook to cache_templates but didn't change the code. The forumhome_vbshout template now caches when I'm not logged in. Is this the right fix or is there a better way?

It's really truly frustrating to see so many people have their shoutbox's displayed how I want mine displayed, but no one knows how it's done. Heck, I'd even take it just coming from an IFRAME!

I am beginning to think this is an abandoned mod

For the user that wants timestamps, this is how I get them displayed (taken from post #400)

Edit this template:

forumhome_vbshout_shout

Find:
You must first be a registered member to view any code.
Change to this:

You must first be a registered member to view any code.
About the only way I have found to get any type of timestamp in there...

have you anyone a hack
to place vBShout 2.1 to
only one forum?

I have checked vb.org but that hack
does not work for few vbShout 2.0 version.

I have a working forum where we almost
post/read in 1 forum.

Don't agree there - with my host disabling the mysql based one due to load this is by far the best out there when comparing with flashchat e.t.c - if you want a good simple one try chatbox, otherwise I don't think the problem with scroll bars is really a reflection on the quality of this hack.....it may be a problem with your implementation of it!

As for you issue with scroll bars - are you using this as a module in CMPS? it may have a minimum width and if you size your module below this it will put scroll bars in automatically...try checking out the templates for this in style manager to see if there are any width statements
