Major Additions - [AJAX/Flatfile] vBShout 2.1

Hey there,

First release here, I'm sure most might know me from over at vB.org, in anycase they broke my vBShout, so here's a fixed version, with a few extra bits:

- Flatfile System (Seriously cuts any intensity this once created before)
- Bug Fix: ' used to break edit shout
- Bug Fix: Users couldn't edit/delete their shouts
- Bug Fix: Parsing problem (that vb.org created..)
- Feature Disabled: Timestamps, this is unfortunatly due to using a flat file system.

Enjoy everyone, if you have the previous vBShout installed, I suggest uninstallation the previous vBShout product then installating this one fresh (saves you havning to revert templates).

Also, this will work for any vB 3.5 installation

I used that on my board with this version of vbshout and it works great.

Now I have a question of my own. I want to get the timestamps running but I feel like I need to be spoon fed the instructions. I assume THESE are the latest instructions for doing so but can't seem to figure out where exactly I make some of these changes. And what is the attached vbshout.php file all about? he made no reference to it in his post.

thanks ,however is the template codes compatible or the same with vbshout v2.1???

The timestamp for my cmps vbshout does not work properly. I put in the necessary changes to get it to display, and it worked fine until DST kicked in. Now at random times throughout the day the timestamp goes an hour forward until someone posts a shout, at that point the time is reflected correctly until the next time it decides to change itself back. VB reflects the proper time.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

Please dont say you have been hacked by a release unless you have definite proof...We have had no complaints or information to suggest that vbshout has any problems..

The scan you are on about is someone searching for sites with vbshout in Google.

What exactly happened to your board to make you think you were hacked?

Quick question... I set my Guests/unregistered users to a "banned group" and set it so banned groups can see the shoutbox but not the shouts. When I tested this, the group can see the shoutbox and the messages. The only thing they can't do it make a shout. Is this suppose to be this way?

I would like for the guests to know there is a shoutbox, but not have permission to actually view content until they either log in or register. Is that possible?

I tried to install 2.1 over 2.0 and I keep getting this error when I try to upload the xml product.

Does it look familiar to anyone else? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I'd like to just revert back to 2.0 until a later date since I have all of the hacks to integrate it throughout my site.
