Hey there,

First release here, I'm sure most might know me from over at vB.org, in anycase they broke my vBShout, so here's a fixed version, with a few extra bits:

- Flatfile System (Seriously cuts any intensity this once created before)
- Bug Fix: ' used to break edit shout
- Bug Fix: Users couldn't edit/delete their shouts
- Bug Fix: Parsing problem (that vb.org created..)
- Feature Disabled: Timestamps, this is unfortunatly due to using a flat file system.

Enjoy everyone, if you have the previous vBShout installed, I suggest uninstallation the previous vBShout product then installating this one fresh (saves you havning to revert templates).

Also, this will work for any vB 3.5 installation

So different members can have their own shoutbox. Ex. Private Moderator Shoutbox.

Darren's Script Archive - chatrooms, image galleries, applets, advanced php/mysql systems makes an AWESOME chat program called flashchat that will integrate into VB as well. Private rooms, password protected rooms, you name it, and a addon to your footer that shows whos online chatting. Also a AIML bot that is very very cool
Demo: FlashChat v4.7.4
I used it on smokinchevy.com - Powered by vBulletin for a while, but we have a small board and went back with the shoutbox instead.
So if you have a board with a lot of users on at the same time, it would be great for that. Just Passing along the info.
As far as getting the shoutbox to do what ya want, I have no clue.:ermm:

For the different shoutbox thing it wouldn't be hard to achieve if you put them on different pages. Putting then both on the same page means you have to make alot of changes to the script.

How about that doorbell buzzer or ding (sounds) when someone is starts shouting? An impossible task?

I am not the author of shoutbox.
I do not remember how I did mine, but this should work, a it works with arcade shout and this is another way of putting it on all pages:
To install, first open the plugin manager, and find the vBShout [Template Alteration] hook. Open it for editing. Replace all of the code inside with:
You must first be a registered member to view any code.
Then open up the Header template, and go to the very bottom, and add this:
You must first be a registered member to view any code.
After that is done, you will have a shoutbox on all pages! It works fully, aswell. To change the name,
Find in the above code:

You must first be a registered member to view any code.
And change the text saying ShoutBoxX.
To change the size, find:

You must first be a registered member to view any code.
And change the height value.


All done! Everything should be working, and you will have a shoutbox on all pages!

Thats correct. There will be noone in the whos online box until someone types something. However. As soon as you load your page, the loading.....
dialouge will disappear as soon as your site loads. If it does not go away when the page loads in full, you have the whos online installed incorrectly in your edits. Been there done that.
Again, "the loading......." will not appear after the pages loads and refreshes..
It will disappear completely until you reload or refresh the screen.

i miss the Timestamps at every Shout and why do specific Charakters in ISO-8859-1 appear wrong ?

The Boardlanguage is of course ISO-8859-1. And at vBShout 2.0 everything works fine. How to fix this ?

But they are display correct at /forum/vbshout.php?do=archive ! :ermm:

Update :

Please integrate this Fix in the next Update. ;)

One suggestion for thought in future development. Was more of a concern before I found the flatfile shoutbox (btw, THANK YOU!). I've played an online webgame that has a javachat along the side and if you don't send a chat in a set timeout period (15 minutes on that site) it disconnects you and you have to click to reconnect. This could save bandwidth? Again, would help the 2.0 version alot more than this, just figured i'd chime in incase ya thought it was good idea!
