Hey there,

First release here, I'm sure most might know me from over at vB.org, in anycase they broke my vBShout, so here's a fixed version, with a few extra bits:

- Flatfile System (Seriously cuts any intensity this once created before)
- Bug Fix: ' used to break edit shout
- Bug Fix: Users couldn't edit/delete their shouts
- Bug Fix: Parsing problem (that vb.org created..)
- Feature Disabled: Timestamps, this is unfortunatly due to using a flat file system.

Enjoy everyone, if you have the previous vBShout installed, I suggest uninstallation the previous vBShout product then installating this one fresh (saves you havning to revert templates).

Also, this will work for any vB 3.5 installation

Hello has all, I use the vbshout 2.1 available on this topic on my forum vb 3.6, everything works super, but I would like to add a limit of 60 second between every shout of member (the member will have to wait 60 second before being able to send dismiss a message in the shout)

use the 2.0 version basically, the version the other guy submitted was a less effecient version of 2.0 kind of like 1.8.

If you right click on the folder in your ftp client you should see something like CHMOD settings. Click on that and ten type 777 into the checkbox.

One question, I uninstalled the 2.0 version and installed the 2.1, do I need to change manually some templates, the forumhome_vbshout_shout I changed already? Thank you.

But so far, thanks very much zero for this new version.
Ah, and one important question, on the 2.1. version there's no security hole as it has been on the 2.0 version?

THere's a security hole on the 2.0 veriosn? What's this all about?

rogersnm - should I be using this then? (I assume you're referring to the 2.0 version available at vb.org?)

Obviously it doesn't take much to confuse me, because now I'm confused. :ermm:

I want a version of this shoutbox that meets the following criteria:
- No (known) security hole(s).
- Timestamps included, but work correctly. (see my post above)
- Uses AJAX and doesn't overload my DB with requests (flatfile).

Now which version do I install, and where do I find it?

I've got to admit that for a hack that seems to be so widely used, it's amazing that this hack isn't supported, or that someone else has stepped up and created a shoutbox that meets the needs of all the users who post in these threads. If I had the skills, I'd give it a go, but I don't

in order of your request:
- This one which is 2.1 from this site
- Not included yet due to using flatfile. If you use the method that others have suggested you are defeating the purpose of the flatfile and actually causing more of a load than the 2.0 version
- This one on this site.

on #2: I have asked ZT to make it so there is a default timestamp that is set to the default time at registration.
