Hey there,

First release here, I'm sure most might know me from over at vB.org, in anycase they broke my vBShout, so here's a fixed version, with a few extra bits:

- Flatfile System (Seriously cuts any intensity this once created before)
- Bug Fix: ' used to break edit shout
- Bug Fix: Users couldn't edit/delete their shouts
- Bug Fix: Parsing problem (that vb.org created..)
- Feature Disabled: Timestamps, this is unfortunatly due to using a flat file system.

Enjoy everyone, if you have the previous vBShout installed, I suggest uninstallation the previous vBShout product then installating this one fresh (saves you havning to revert templates).

Also, this will work for any vB 3.5 installation

This works pretty well. But the display box acts strange in Safari. Will have to test in other browsers.

Hi,

I'm completely new to VB and this is only the second day of learning how to use the various spectre of possibilities withnin the admin-panel and all the other great stuff. So be aware - the following might be in the category of extremely stupid :knockedou but here it goes (after thanking the team behind this great hack!) :

1. How do I place the shout-box in one of the sides of the forum instead of the 4 preset positions ind the VBconfig-panel?

2. How do I change the name of the panel from "Shoutbox" to something different of my own choice?

3. How do I change that e.g. the * jipet action creates a red shout with *'s around it?
I hope that someone would be so kind and give me a lecture, so I can move from extreme_n00b to close_to_normal_beginner. :classic:

Okay this is for all you who wanted timestamps in Shouts. The shout file edited and tweaked by one of my friend [Jedifans] and he fixed the Timestamps. Hopefully the author wont mind.
Cheers.

1. replace the attached vbshout.php with old one.

2. template change in forumhome_vbshout_shout
You must first be a registered member to view any code.
I just saw this post http://www.vbhackers.com/showpost.ph...3&postcount=11 just wana add that it does use workarounds that might put query load like ZT said.. but its for only those who still want Timestamps..

Question for the coders.

What general area of vB or the shoutbox script could possible allow for randomly not show the editor when logged in?

Maybe if I just had a an idea of where a comparson of scripting might show something, it might lead somewhere.

Nothing to my knowledge works like that, plus if it did a random guess at hopw it would work would mean the would work seperately

Does that make sense? xD

I think so.

If they work randomly together they would work randomly apart. I think that is what you are saying.

That is what is stumping me, and the others this is happening to. How can it be random? It should either work or not woirk.

I cannot get my mind off the fact 2.0 worked in 3.5.4.

But in 3.6.0 both 2.0 and 2.1 have the same identifical problem.

That keeps pushing my thinking to either there is some very small bug in 3.6.0 or a very small incompatibility between 3.6.0 Gold and both 2.0 and 2.1.

I just don't have the skills to figure it out.
