Major Additions - [AJAX/Flatfile] vBShout 2.1

Hey there,

First release here, I'm sure most might know me from over at vB.org, in anycase they broke my vBShout, so here's a fixed version, with a few extra bits:

- Flatfile System (Seriously cuts any intensity this once created before)
- Bug Fix: ' used to break edit shout
- Bug Fix: Users couldn't edit/delete their shouts
- Bug Fix: Parsing problem (that vb.org created..)
- Feature Disabled: Timestamps, this is unfortunatly due to using a flat file system.

Enjoy everyone, if you have the previous vBShout installed, I suggest uninstallation the previous vBShout product then installating this one fresh (saves you havning to revert templates).

Also, this will work for any vB 3.5 installation

You can put timestamps in but the problem is if someone from a different timezone posts then it will show their time so it will be like 1 shout at 8:03 am then at 5:03 pm then another at 11:03 pm. So it'll look a bit weird when they all could have been posted in the same minute

Yeah, I may create on a work-around for this, though it would have to be handled via javascript, since doing it in run-time via php would require the $vbulletin object to be populated to get the user time-zone settings, which in itself would make the whole flat-file system pretty pointless

Awesome thanks for this. Just wondering if this will be released at vb.org or are you (Zero Tolerance) no longer involved with that forums.

I'm no coder but couldnt you make an option in the admincp for us to set what the timezone is for the shoutbox so then all users will just go by that? Instead of what their individual timezone is.

Anyway great to see you still supporting your great hacks!!

a) i do not believe he is going to release it at vborg and
b) it'll be a little annoying for someone to look at the shoutbox, shout in it, and it say his shout was at 12:36 when was actually at 9:36

The shoutbox does not handle the

replacement variables under styles/templates, right?

I hope it is called "Replacement Variable" (the 3rd menu under styles and templates)

I've not installed vbshout or looked at this one's code so I'm only guessing here. If I understand the time problem correctly then one thing you could do is just record the server time() for when the message is made. Maybe you could have "Said ... secs / mins / hours / days ago.." rather than any actual time.

vborg messed around with the code which made the error's with: ', ", <, > and various other symbols.

True, variable replacements are not replaced, ofcourse this can be fixed if you wish, as for the archive, you had ?? in your url, it's just: http://forums.gzevolution.net/vbshout.php?do=archive

Oh, and having x seconds/minutes/hours is not a bad idea for implementation, I may adjust the timestamps to that

Thanks for this great hack but I have a little bug, the symbol "€" doesn't appear when I type it, no problem with "$" and "£" only the € causes the problem. Is there a way to fix that ?

I have no idea why it doesn't work, but it isn't working here either in this text editor i'm using for this reply, so perhaps it's a browser issue? *tries firefox*

Works in Firefox, I use IE7 Beta though, so I'm not sure on IE6, but it may be a bug with IE7, or are you using a different browser?
