Hey there,

First release here, I'm sure most might know me from over at vB.org, in anycase they broke my vBShout, so here's a fixed version, with a few extra bits:

- Flatfile System (Seriously cuts any intensity this once created before)
- Bug Fix: ' used to break edit shout
- Bug Fix: Users couldn't edit/delete their shouts
- Bug Fix: Parsing problem (that vb.org created..)
- Feature Disabled: Timestamps, this is unfortunatly due to using a flat file system.

Enjoy everyone, if you have the previous vBShout installed, I suggest uninstallation the previous vBShout product then installating this one fresh (saves you havning to revert templates).

Also, this will work for any vB 3.5 installation

When it just says loading that's due to AJAX not functioning properly usually caused by browser incompatibility

Hence my request for an input field on the plain "archive" page to acommodate my webtv users.

(Luckily?) I don't have webtv, so I have no way to test this first hand, but from those who have I can confirm that the built in browser of webtv does NOT support AJAX, so they'll just see the "loading" message forever.

If these folks could input their shouts in another way as I suggested via the archive page, then all would be good ;)

(And yes, I have told the webtv people to just buy a damn PC and dump that stupid thing, but they seem very loyal to this horrible product )

okay, I had seen your post snake about this,, but its odd that it works when they are logged in, but not when they log out.. So I wasn't sure if it was related

If it works at all (ie no "loading" message) then it's not AJAX. If it works before or after login that means that the browser is indeed AJAX capable.

If (as in my case) they're using webtv, it will not work with ANY webtv settings. The browser simply doesn't work properly

hmmm

ok I dont have web tv, and my shoutbox works great when I am logged in however I just get the loading message if I am logged out.

No matter what browser I use...


EDIT::

ok I was wrong .. I can read the shouts if I am logged out and using IE, however if I am logged out and using firefox I only see the loading message.

I'd say that prooves pretty much that the problem is with firefox and not with the shoutbox.

Check your settings in firefox and weather or not you have the latest version. I am using V1.5.0.6 and it works perfectly, logged in or logged out. As long as the shoutbox's settings allow me to view it when not logged in, I can. So don't forget to check vbshout's settings as well.

same with me, FF 1.5.0.6 No problems. didn't have problems since i started using back in 1.0.
