Major Additions - [AJAX/Flatfile] vBShout 2.1

Hey there,

First release here, I'm sure most might know me from over at vB.org, in anycase they broke my vBShout, so here's a fixed version, with a few extra bits:

- Flatfile System (Seriously cuts any intensity this once created before)
- Bug Fix: ' used to break edit shout
- Bug Fix: Users couldn't edit/delete their shouts
- Bug Fix: Parsing problem (that vb.org created..)
- Feature Disabled: Timestamps, this is unfortunatly due to using a flat file system.

Enjoy everyone, if you have the previous vBShout installed, I suggest uninstallation the previous vBShout product then installating this one fresh (saves you havning to revert templates).

Also, this will work for any vB 3.5 installation

Excellent, this is a great update, while I could handle the load, less is always better. Cheers!

Sorry if I missed something, can this be auto pruned via a cron job like v2.0 and if so, how do I set that up, thanks!

you can use the same cron, you just have to shout in the shoutbox to update the flatfile.

It's a template underneath the Forum Home Template section. You have to be logged in to show the post box.

You could have banned your self or something. check the options in the vB options panel.

that would be another thing to look out for wouldn't it. xD.

vBH should probably make a seperate forum for vBShout modifcations xD.

nope, no one was banned ;)

I'll install it again later and try then..

also.. on my clients sites, when a mod logs out they just see "Loading" on the sb ?
and no group is in the bannedbox..

I think that may be a typo, I think he's referring to: forumhome_vbshout_shout (At least that's where I found it and it worked for me without a problem.)

Just search your styles for the string: <if condition="!$Shout[s_me]">
It appears twice in the forumhome_vbshout_shout template, you need to modify the first instance only (otherwise the timestamp appears twice).

Remember to do it for all your styles you have installed.
