I saw this posted about in another thread and thought it would be a cool thing to have. I have a welcome area and would be intersted in this hack. It would be much appreciated.

so do you mean, set it for an auto post when a user joins with a pre-set phrase?

Yeah I guess that's what I'm thinking. I want it to make a new thread when someone joins the forum in a specific place on the forum. And I could modify what it says too if possible.

A useful variation on this would be a 'welcome private message' rather than a public posting.

Yeah I have that already but I'm trying to get new users to start posting maybe.

So you want to have say "4 phrases" which it can post into "forum id x" With the title "Welcome to [Boardname] [New users Name]"

Yeah that makes sence and would probably work, but I have no idea how to go about making it though php is kinda a dark thing for me yet LOL. If its was html or css I'd be doing better LOL.
