Sort by Category in Forum Display like SlickDeals.net

I'm looking for a hack that allows me to sort threads based on their category when you click on the category icon in a column on the left. Here's one of their forums:

Has anyone created a hack like this yet? If not... anyone up to the task?

I guess this is a modified version of the category hack by Mystics over at vb.org. Try playing around with that a little .
