I have had a good mosey around and done a search but haven't been able to come up with something like this.

My partner and I wonder if anyone could help us with a, perhaps, unusual problem we have.

We run a small but growing NASCAR forum which generates around 300 posts a day. However, most of these posts are within one or two 'chat' type threads. Members have expressed an interest (read 'need') to be notified of only posts that are direct replies to posts they have actually made rather than a notification each time a post is made, generally.

Presently, if they subsribe to the notification system - they are emailed each time anyone posts in the relevant forums, whereas members only want to be notified or be able to find, easily, replies that are directed to them personally - i.e. when someone has hit the 'reply with quote' button and answered one of their posts.

We're wondering whether some kind of hack is possible that would produce these results by way of an email or even if a simple forum search could be configured.

We can handle following instructions and making template edits if anyone would be kind enough to lend a hand or offer some advice with this.
