Random x users log in and viewing forums

I want to build up my site to have the effect members are online. I have members that have never came back on the forums in like 1 year. What I would like this hack to do is pick random x members I specify from a list of members who have not signed on x days or part of x usergroup to simply log on and just apear to be doing stuff on the site.

What they are doing would show on wol and thier page. website migente.com does this all the time they have say 800 members that are not really online... but looks like they are.

I assume a cron job with javascript document.write commands could work? no idea... but This would be gold to bost a website. Please advise if anyone can do this.

I do need this for version 3.0.x forums.

so basically, if i understood u correctly, u want to code something to supposedly show your forum is very active with many online members, eventhough your forum is "wasteland" & none actually visit it ? :p
