Question Private Message History Hack
Version: 3.5.x
Hack Category: Add-On Releases

I'm looking for a hack that will allow members to view their Private Message history by sender.

ie. sue and john have been sending messages back and forth but sue is not sure of what john said about something three messages ago, so she clicks on the history button and all messages (assuming they have not been deleted) between her and john are listed.

Currently the quote previous messages system gets a little hard to read after several messages have gone back and forth and many members clear off previous messages in a new pm.
:glasses:

This would take up a LOT of space on the server, which is exactly why there is a limit to number of stored messages per member set by the admin of the forum. The answer to your 'history' hack is for the member to download a copy of their PM's to their computer.

why not having admins to log the private messages and the users can ask the admin.

I don't know many admins that would be willing to babysit PMs for the entire forum. Plus how long does the 'history' go back? You're still taking up the same amount of room on the server. If I'm not mistaken vB added the 'download' feature so that members could store their own messages for this very reason.
