Status: Offline Post inside a post - using IFRAME (BBCode)
Would this be possible?

Basically I want to be able to use [Iframe-post] or something so that I can create one post then use the BBCode in another post to view/link back to the original post...

For example: If I created a new thread/post about the current Server IPs and have it locked in one of my forums but then needed to link back to this post in several other forums/sub-forums I would usually either just paste the URL of the post or just create a copy of the post... However when I need to update the Server IPs - I would have to search through the forums and update every post that it is located in... :( If I used <iframe> it would show the whole PAGE which I don't want...

So would it this be possible? To have a post inside a post where it doesn't have the signature and original poster of the inside post (or any of the navbar/forum banner etc.)... then I would only need to update the original post which would 'automatically' update all the other posts since they would be using a 'relationship' :D

If this can be done some other way then please tell me as I'd really like to know how Thanks

You want a link to a sticky to always show the most current version of a sticky?

Well a "link" will, of course.

So, what you really want is a BBCODE that will insert an IFRAME within a post, and the src of that IFRAME is your sticky.

HMMM... let me chew this one over.

I don't suppose me saying "stop copying and pasting your stickies" would be a satisfactory response? I mean, seriously, it could be a public health issue, or at the very least give you hairy palms.

Well it's mainly because I run a large tournament and when new people join and can't find the Server IP's or something they usually check their sides private forums (Axis/Allies) and the Officers either post a link back to the original sticky or just copy and paste the message inside the sticky and post it in their forum...

If it was used as an iframe it would be easier for new people as they won't need to keep getting redirected everywhere, and in the Axis/Allied server post that has the <iframe> link the Officers could add extra info such as Axis/Allied passwords...

I understand. I'm away on business the rest of this week, through the weekend. My laptop has my testbed server/site though, so if I'm stuck in an airport I'll see what I can do with this.

If someone else wants to jump in in the meantime, though: feel free.

No problem I'm in no rush - and I could create the simple <iframe> BBCode I would have used but the only problem is that it would show the whole page :(
Thanks for helping tho

No... you set the src to the full "post" url, the URL that looks like this:

Post inside a post - using IFRAME (BBCode)

If you can create the IFRAME bbcode, set it to use a URL parameter like that.

Heres a generic Iframe tag, I believe I got this years ago from Ozone over at vb.com

HTML Code:
<div align=center><iframe name="cwindow" style="border:0" width=500 height={option} src="http://{param}"></iframe></div>
example: [ inwindow=300]www.google.com[ /inwindow]

You can try playing around with that to see what works for you

Hmm Thanks guys this is what I am using for now, I could change height:{param} to just height:100% so that it will always be an exact copy but I will see how this goes for now...

HTML Code:
<iframe name="ipost" style="border:2;width:100%;height:{option}px" align=middle scrolling=auto src="http://www.bfecod.com/showpost.php?p={param}"></iframe></div>
:D

Why not use an announcement?

You can write an announcement and show it in all forums you need it to show.
If you change the announcement it will change in all forums you specified.
