Is there a hack out there that either private messages or e-mails a user with a thank you note after they upgrade through a paid subscription?

Im not sure but i think you can do this through your merchant ie Paypal or who ever you use.There should be options to send thanks email etc..

I have some pm script lying around somewhere... I'll see if I can find it. You would just need to modify what ever IPN script vB uses...
