As of June 9th, 2005 SecureDownloads has been down. This is due to the owner no longer supporting his product, and not wishing to hold up his end of the contract to fix the bugs in the software. On his main site we are working on aquiring his permission to use the software publicly; http://www.shackrats-hideout.com/for...ad.php?t=10223 . So far the owner has not responded, and I highly doubt he will.

Once the users take control of the software, I would like to know if anyone is interested in working with it to make it work properly, as there still are many bugs in the software. I would also really love to see a file directory import working on the script. If anyone is interested in taking over the product, pleast let me know. Note I am not the creator of the software, but sadly I was one of the many people who bought the software before the creator disapeared.

The creator listed these features:

Fully integrated with vBulletin, including users, templates, permissions.

Secure Downloads is a fully developed add-on, not a hack.
No vBulletin code modifications required!

Files can be securely stored outside of the web root so no direct linking
is possible.

Unlimited categories/subcategories.

No limit to the number of files that can be hosted as long as disk space
allows.

Each file has it's own it counter.

Files can be sorted by date, rating, download popularity, and name.

Users can post comments on files.

Users can review files.

User and administrators can upload files.

Uploaded files can be placed into a moderation queue.

Moderators can be assigned to categories for approving files, editing file
descriptions, and more.

Permissions are set at the category level by usergroup.
Sub-categories can inherit parent category permissions or have their own.

Permissions include CanDownload, CanUpload, CanView, CanSearch,
CanEditOwn, CanPostComments, and PostsRequiredToDownload.

Every download is logged to track abuse.

Download quotas can be set per-usergroup, including daily KB, monthly KB, daily count, and monthly count. Each usergroup can also be limited to a set number of simultaneous downloads to prevent leeching.

Fulltext search engine searches file names, descriptions, and upload
usernames to help users locate specific files.

Image attachment manager allows users to upload images to associate with files, such as screenshots, and rotate and resize if necessary.

Admins can create categories, move categories, move files between
categories in large batches, view the download log, and more.

File import wizard automatically imports files from any server directory,
or specify a URL and Secure Downloads will present a lit of files to import
from that location, then automatically download and add them into the database

i heard Shakrat was being procecuted for that product because of the amount of people who paid and got nothing.

Yup, there are a few people I believe who are talking to the NY State Attorny about the issue. Its a shame, I think it could be a good product if it only worked. I think he is currently handling the situation pretty badly. No communication. One of his staff members (the one that posted the "legal" notice about making the software public) told him about what was going on at securedownloads.net and within 24 hours he shutdown the site. People have requested refunds through paypal, but he quickly denies them. Doesn't respond to e-mails or other communcations though.
