I would like to know how to check if a member is on irc or not and if not then denying him access to the board.

If i understand u right, u want to force your users to be on the IRC-Channel if they want to read postings at your board?

If you really would want that, you would need the ISP-Adress, from every user at your board. I think, that even this isnt worth the work...
And second would be: U cant use the normal host name for identifying the user, the hostname can be changed in every normal IRC-Client. Even X-Chat supports this!

So it probably wont be able to code such a hack as far as there isnt some IRC genius that has a great great idea...

Well i don't want it that difficult, i just want the board to check the member nicknames, since they are registered to the right user.

The user regs and1 identifies himself on irc (using his board nick), the board checks if that nick is on irc in the correct channel and grants or denies him/her access.

In my opinion this is NOT possible without a very very high difficulty...

You gotta find one of the best IRC and vBulletin Coders to get that done... i dont know if any of the teammembers can do irc-coding (can anyone? )

And then you gotta be advanced in loading ".tcl"-scripts into a IRC eggdrop overa partyline - i dont know if you can do that
The hack installation would not be the big problem if i imagine it the right way. U would have only a few file mods i think and a few files. the file mods (or template) modification would get lost if somebody does a installer

It is possible believe me see the example, and it shouldn't be that difficult, just a check if the member with nickname Ronin is on irc if yes ok let em through.

Its very possible and fairly easy so long as you have an understanding of tcl.
The php side of things isnt really that difficult its the tcl that took up the time with me and I know tcl. You want the board to check IRC to see if they are there which means they have to be using the nick they registered with on IRC. Thats not always possible users have away nicks, they use board nicks that are longer than the max length for IRC etc etc. Just a few things to think about.

Yes it can be done because I have done it but I wont release it personally which is why I have refrained from posting in this thread so far. The hack took far too much time to perfect especially since I run it off efnet where nicks cant be registered.

I will say this though dont think board checks IRC think eggdrop updates board. PHP connecting to IRC server to check users in channel is not only b/w hogging its also extremely difficult. An eggdrop is already there all you have to do is tell it what to do next.
