Join Date: Apr 2004 Location: UK | | | Its about as secure as not using it all as it goes. Using it under the heading security is a little naive to say the least. How many of your users use a password that’s at least 8 characters long ? If the answer to that is not the total amount of users you have then ask yourself how many use stupid passwords like ownage etc. .htaccess is very easily brute forced when the password is not a good strong one and a php hack that acts the same way is just as easily brute forced.
