Exclude certain forums from get "New Posts"

Just wondering if someone could make a simple plugin/hack where members can click on the "New Posts" and it will show a drop down list where members can either select to view new posts, or edit which forums to get new posts from...

Or If someone has something similar to this already release could you please help find it for me?

Hmm I think I found a hack which does what I want:

But I don't have access to the members page yet (Although I should have it by the end of the week since the license owner of my site said he'll do it soon)

Also I noticed in Forum Permissions there is an option: "Can exclude Forums from "Get New Posts" - Does that actually work? It doesn't seem to do anything :? where would I find the option to exlude the forums... :|
