changing text into links

I want to able to change text in posts to links on the fly.

For example if someone posts the word "dog" I want the word to automatically link to a dog site of my choice.

Is there a hack for this already? Or can someone dibby something up real quick?

Styles & Templates > Replacement Variable Manager
I'm not sure if it's bbcode based or html based.

Note: It replaces the word *everywhere* in the output from page titles to <head> info to forum titles. All occurances.

If you just want one for posts, vb.org has a link replacement manager thingy.

If you know what words you want to use, use the replacements variable setting for the skin you want to do it on in the Styles settings.

EDIT: Sorry, bairy, I didn't see your post. And it's html based.

There is also the GAL commercial plugin from www.thevbgeek.com for a more expansive modification.
