Default Archive for old posts
Version: 3.5.x
Hack Category: Add-On Releases

What I would like is a way to Archive all the post on my board into one parent forum after so many days. I want a forum on the Forum Home page that says Archive, then from there when you click on it, it goes into this Archive forum and then there is every forum listed on the forum home page, list as sub-forums to the archive parent forum.

I.E:
Forum Home
--Forum 1
--Forum 2
----Sub-Forum 1
----Sub-Forum 2
------Child of Sub-Forum 1
--Archive
----Forum 1
----Forum 2
------Sub-Forum 1
------Sub-Forum 2
--------Child of Sub-Forum 1

And from this in the Admin panel you're able to set how old a post has to be in order for it to be moved to the Archive forum, and then if someone where to post in this archived forum it would return to it's original forum (the identical forum title, outside of the Archive forum). (of course it be possible to hand move threads into the archive forum as well.)

So say a post is 180 days old, in Sub-Forum 1 and that's the time limit you set, it moves to:
Archive > Forum 2 > Sub-Forum 1 > Thread

and then if someone where to post in this thread, in the Archive parent forum, it would return to:
Forum 2 > Sub-Forum 1 > Thread

You could probably combine it with the other hack that doesn't allow posting after so many days by setting one setting for the time it takes to get to the Archive forum and then after so many days in the archive forum it gets closed, and stays in the archive forum.
Like the 180 days example above, if it goes for an additional 90 days after that (270 total) then it gets closed.
